More Dentists Are Using Smartphones for Work Reasons in 2014; Less Using Tablets
Dentists are closing the gap with physicians as more are using their smartphones for professional purposes.
Since 2011, the percentage of dentists using smartphones for work reasons has increased by around 25 points, according to Kantar Media’s Sources & Interactions 2014 Study – Dentistry Edition. The percent of dentists using these devices for work has increased 4% year-over-year, putting them very close to physician usage.
On the tablet front, the percent of dentists that use smartphones for work reasons decreased 5% year-over-year. Tablet usage by dentists is similar to doctor usage, with physicians pulling ahead by about a handful of percentage points.
Among dentists who are smartphone users, the type of mobile app used most often is Drug and Coding References and among dentists who are tablet users, the types of mobile apps used most often are Diagnostic Tools/Clinical Reference.
