Smartphone Usage for Work Shows Small Increases Among Eyecare Professionals

Almost three in four ophthamologists use their smartphones for professional purposes, according to Kantar Media’s Sources & Interactions 2013 Study – Eyecare Edition, an increase of 6% year-over-year. More than half of optometrists use smartphones for professional purposes, but the majority of opticians still do not use these devices for work .

The most popular type of mobile app (of those we study) among ophthalmologists are diagnostic tools/clinical reference. More than half of those surveyed say they use at least one type of mobile app on a smartphone for professional purposes. Further, most opticians and optometrists don’t use any mobile apps work reasons (of the ones we study).
