More Eyecare Professionals are Using Smartphones for Work Reasons
The percentage of eyecare professionals using their smartphones for professional purposes has shown major increases year-over-year, according to Kantar Media’s Sources & Interactions 2014 Study – Eyecare Edition. Almost four in five ophthalmologists use these digital devices for work while nearly 2/3 of optometrists do the same. Similar to last year, the majority of opticians still do not use these devices for work reasons, but they have increased by seven percentage points.
The most popular type of mobile app (of those we study) among ophthalmologists are diagnostic tools/clinical reference. Furthermore, more than half of those surveyed say they use at least one type of mobile app on a smartphone for professional purposes. We also found that most opticians and don’t use any mobile apps work purposes, but almost half of optometrists do.
Kantar Media’s Sources & Interactions™ Studies offer a detailed examination of healthcare professionals’ online and mobile activities, e-detailing experience, and exposure to (and evaluation of) information sources including traditional and emerging media, pharma reps, CME, conventions and more. The Eyecare Edition, conducted every year, is designed to profile physician assistants' and nurse practitioners’ media use in these areas of interest to healthcare marketers and media professionals.
