How Are Dentists Using Digital Devices for Work?
Smartphones and tablet devices give many professionals the ability to work from almost anywhere. That includes dentists. Since 2011, the percentage of dentists using smartphones for professional purposes has increased by more than 10 points each year, according to Kantar Media’s Sources & Interactions 2013 Study – Dentistry Edition. While there was a bigger difference in the use between dentists in doctors in 2011, this year dentists are starting to close the gap.
On the tablet front, the percent of dentists that use smartphones for work reasons increased 22% year-over-year. Tablet usage by dentists almost mirrors doctor usage, with dentists pulling ahead by only a few percentage points.
Among dentists who are smartphone users, the type of mobile application used most often is for Drug and Coding References and among dentists who are tablet users, the mobile apps used most often are for Dental Publications/Newspapers/Magazines.
Kantar Media’s Sources & Interactions™ Studies offer a detailed examination of healthcare professionals’ online and mobile activities, e-detailing experience, and exposure to (and evaluation of) information sources including traditional and emerging media, sales reps, CME, conventions and more. The Dentistry Edition, conducted every year, is designed to profile dentists’ media use in these areas of interest to healthcare marketers and media professionals.
