We also dig deeper to understand how this group breaks out demographically, including the length of their practice and how many patients they see every week. Keep reading for some of these key insights.

We found that about 42% of dental hygienists surveyed have been in practice for over 25 years. The average number of years in practice by this group is about 19. On average, dental hygienists see about 31 patients per week and they work an average of 29 hours/4 days per week. The majority of dental hygienists (62%) work in a solo practice.

On average, they dispense or recommend about 21 units of floss per week as well as 21 manual toothbrushes. Further, they use about 30 face masks and 31 pairs of gloves.
