How Many Doctors Use Tablets?

The majority of doctors (53%) are using tablet devices for professional purposes, according to recent data from  the most recent Sources & Interactions Study – Medical/Surgical Edition. 47% of all doctors use a tablet app for work reasons. Among doctors who are tablet users, 75% use apps for medical journals/newspapers/magazines and 59% use Diagnostic Tools/Clinical Reference tablet apps.

About 39% of all physicians surveyed use tablet apps for medical journals/newspapers/magazines, making this the most widely-used app type among the six we currently study. Approximately 31% of doctors use tablet apps for diagnostic tools and clinical reference and 27% use it for electronic medical records.

The Sources & Interactions™ Study is a detailed examination of doctors’ online and mobile activities, e-detailing experience, and exposure to (and evaluation of) information sources including traditional and emerging media, pharma reps, CME, convention and more. The study is conducted every six months and targets more than 3,000 physicians annually across 22 specialties, exploring their media preferences and habits.
