Three in Ten Physicians Use Email to Communicate with Patients
Only 30% of physicians say they use email to communicate with patients, according to the Sources & Interactions Study, September 2014 – Medical/Surgical Edition. This percentage has not changed over the last six months.
We also found that use of email communication does not differ very much based on the age of the physician. But physician specialty does show some differences. For example, Diabetes/Endocrinologists and Neurologists are much more likely to use email with patients vs. Cardiologists or Psychiatrists. Further, we found that almost half (47%) of Key Opinion Leaders use email to communicate with patients.
