Smartphone Usage Hasn't Increased Among Hospital Execs; Remains Higher Compared with Other Healthcare Professionals
More than three in four hospital management professionals (chief executives, financial executives and information executives) say they use a smartphone for professional purposes with usage being highest among CIOs, according to Kantar Media’s Sources & Interactions 2013 Study – Hospital Management Edition. This percentage hasn't shifted since the study was last conducted in 2011 but still remains higher than the usage of other groups of healthcare professionals, including doctors, dentists and pharmacists.
The majority of these hospital execs report email and text messaging to be their most commonly performed tasks on a smartphone for professional purposes.
Slightly less than half of this group uses a tablet for professional purposes compared to only 17% in 2011. The tasks most commonly performed on these devices related to work are checking email and viewing websites.
Kantar Media’s Sources & Interactions™ Studies offer a detailed examination of healthcare professionals’ online and mobile activities, e-detailing experience, and exposure to (and evaluation of) information sources including traditional and emerging media, pharma reps, CME, conventions and more. The Hospital Management Edition, conducted every two years, is designed to profile hospital execs’ media use in these areas of interest to healthcare marketers and media professionals.
