Among the top 25 drug companies advertising in professional health journals, these are some of the fastest growing in terms of print journal advertising year-to-date in 2013 as compared with that time period last year.

#1 Sunovion Inc. – $1 MM (+106%)

#2 Celegene Corporation – $1 MM (+246%)

#3 Boehringer Ingelheim Corporate – $1 MM (+84%)

#4 Medivation and Astellas – $1 MM (+383%)

#5 Daiichi Sankyo and Lilly USA – $961,000 (+128%)

Medivation and Astellas jumped into the top five due to advertising of the product Xtandi, which launched late 2012.

Daiichi Sankyo and Lilly USA made the top 5 in terms of percent change in the first quarter due to the increase in advertising of Effient. In 2012, Daiichi Sankyo and Lilly USA ramped up advertising in Effient near the end of the year as opposed to Q1.

Celegene ranked #2 this quarter because of an increase in advertising of Abraxane Injectable.
