Top 5 Print Ad Pharma Companies (Dollars): Jan. – Mar. 2013

#1 Johnson & Johnson Corporate – $8 MM (+32%)

#2 Forest Laboratories – $6 MM (-64%)

#3 Ironwood Pharmaceutical and Forest Pharmaceuticals – $4 MM (N/A)

#4 Pfizer Corporate – $3 MM (-11%)

#5 Novo Nordisk Pharmaceutical – $2 MM (-14%)

Novo Nordisk didn’t make the top 5 companies at the end of last month – the company’s advertising this year primarily focuses on diabetes care, specifically for the product Victoza, an injectable medication that may help improve blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes, as well as their DM2 commitment to diabetes education.

Forest and Ironwood entered a partnership in 2007 in the development of the product Linzess, which was approved in 2012.  The companies have spent about $4 million so far this year advertising the product. Forest has also spent almost $4 million advertising Tudorza in Q1 2013.

The percentage changes compare Q1 2013 to Q1 2012. For more information on these ad insights or other data, let one of us know.
